Here are a few accounts of visitors' experiences and impressions of Vieques Island and the W Retreat & Spa...

"The Honeymoon package with private dinner under the stars with Caesar as our waiter was perfect. Lauren and javier at the desk were exceptional as well in providing any information we seeked and answered all our questions promptly and courteously."

"Ricky, Sandra, Lauren, Tamara, and others went above and beyond the call do duty. We enjoyed our stay immensely."

"Being that the resort on Vieques PR was new, we had little to no expectations and the staff surpassed it. Everyone from consierge to front desk to pool, were exceptionally polite and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed signing out the kayak, taking yoga over looking the ocean and fabulous mega room that we called ours for 4days. Exceptional service came from Edison who took my non-stop calls in order to coordinate our mini vacation which was purchased through RueLaLa website. WE had a fantastic time which included much needed relaxation so all we did was swim and veg. Thank you so much. Should we be so lucky to return, we only hope the property stays as pristine as it was."

"Georgie and Ricardo were the most friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. The peole experience is what made our stay the best. The hotel was not in full Retreat Mode and you could tell with the work being done and that things were not polished. But the people made it worth while."

"Front desk was very helpful (Oscar was the best), accomodations were excellent, the living room was an incredible experience, and of course the birthday cake and the champaign were OH MY GOD!!!! we will be back... in July 4th"

"Ricardo was an exceptional host in every way - informative, helpful, pleasant and a joy to interact with. He tried to fix every problem immediately. Roberto was also wonderful and helpful during our stay. An amazing individual!"

Excellent people: the woman and the guy (from Chicago) who tended bar in the evening in the living room, the very tall woman at the front desk, the concierges, the driver we had from the airport to the hotel, Jonathan - who my husband spoke to on a few occasions and very much enjoyed, the W guy there from NY who is opening the property."

"The experience as a whole was excellent. The all around music was great. The concierge who showed us around, Jorge, was very helpful:"

"the woman(forgot name!) at the W store was a native "Viequesian"(?) and was so knowledgeable and helpful w/recommendations on where to visit during day trips. The room is set up perfect for a couple like ourselves. Bree at the front desk went out of her way for a special request we had and Eric was also so friendly and accomodating getting us to the airport"

"Vieques is unlike any other Caribbean island...it has all the wonderful features you expect from an exotic destination such as pristine and beautiful beaches, warm and sunny days...but yet it feels real...a place where people live, love, laugh not just for a few days but every day...it feels exclusive...a place where not many have visited, and you are ahead of the trend that will surely follow once word gets out...a place where lazy days can be combined with exciting natural activities, and soon with world class dining and accommodations, can't wait for the W opening!!"

"It was my first time to Vieques and the island is so special.  It is truly unspoiled and natural without commercial shopping - just small local stores, no high rises or large hotels - just intimate B&B's or guest houses and the soon to open W.   Great restaurants with island ambiance, especially in Esperanza with the Caribbean Sea as your backdrop.  12 named beaches where you'll feel like it's your own private island as you are likely to be the only one enjoying the sand between your toes, the sounds of the soft waves kissing the sand and the water touching the sky in the distance.  The variety of soft adventure - from kayaking to horseback riding on the beach to snorkeling and diving - and beach relaxation offerings coupled with 80 degree average temperatures, Vieques is a paradise on earth. I was wow'd by the wild horses roaming the streets, like you see deer here in the northeast.  And was speechless by the bio bay tour...it was almost unbelievable seeing the water glow when there is movement in the bay.  Truly spectacular!  But make sure you don't go during a full moon...it's too light outside to see the glow. I highly recommend Vieques for any individual looking for an escape from the hassles of everyday life, a couple's honeymoon destination where there is plenty to do for 4-5 days without feeling guilty being a beach bum or having spa indulgence days to round out a week to 10 day trip, or for a group looking to rejuvenate and get new perspective and ideas."

"Vieques is truly a special island, laid back in a beautiful natural setting. Getting there is very low key and easy from the local airport in SJU (Isla Grande). On island, the wild horses that roam the streets definitely make you leave your stress pack behind and start enjoying being away from it all very quickly. Can't wait to go back and experience the W Retreat & Spa."

"The alarm woke me up at 6.30am -I jump out of bed quickly as I have a busy day ahead of me with some visitors arriving early today. I'm in room #21 right across from the Kitchen of this small hotel where I usually stay on Vieques Island - I go across the kitchen to get my morning coffee."

"On the way back to my room, I am stopped by the most spectacular sunrise over the town of Esperanza...so I sit down for a few minutes and take it all in. This is the Vieques effect - it makes you stop and live life.  It is now 7.20am and I sit down for a quick breakfast with "Luisita". The breakfast room sits under this huge "Tamarindo" tree that envelopes the hotel.  It is an open air terrace on the second floor, and Luisita is the "resident Puerto Rican parrot" who comes every morning for breakfast. On her menu that day are scrambled eggs and a toast! Both of us finish our breakfasts and I dash out to meet my clients at the airport thinking:  that is the unexpected sheer beauty of Vieques Island! Some of the priceless experiences that await you! Are you one of the few "in the know"?"
